Lord of the Tiny Village

On his way to assume command of Gaul, Julius Caesar passed through a small, miserable village, a mere collection of houses, in the middle of nowhere.  Nevertheless, he leaned over to his companion and said, “I would rather be the chief of this tiny village than the second man in Rome.”
